摘要
本文计算了稀土氟化物PrF_3的Faraday旋转的Verdet常数及其磁化率,并研究了它们的温度特性。结果表明,该化合物在可见光范围内的Faraday效应主要是由Pr^(3+)离子的4f电子在4f^2和4f5d两组态之间的允许电偶极跃迁引起的,在考虑了晶场和外磁场的共同影响,并把Pr^(3+)离子的~3H_4态作为基态的情况下,不引入任何可调参数,计算结果与实验符合较好。
In this paper the calculations, of the Faraday effect Verdet constant and magnetic susceptibility of the rare earth trifluoride PrF_3 are presented and its properties in the temperature range are discussed. It is found that the Faraday effect of this compound is mainly caused by the intra-ionic electric dipole transition between the 4f and 4f5d configurations. In the calculations, considering effects of crystal field and applied magnetic field on the ground state of Pr^(3+)ion, onlt ~3H_4 is included. The calculated results are in agreement with the experiments.
