Carbon fibers, which are usually seen in composite materials, have wide application field. The article introduces the develop- ment ofcarbon fibers at home and abroad and discusses the main problems of the carbons fibers produced in China. The application of carbon fibers in industry, civil engineering and transportations as well as their prospects in China are also discussed.
