摘要
小说对话不是一种装饰 ,它在小说中发挥着多个重要的作用———刻画人物是其中之一。本文运用符号学的翻译原则 ,比较分析了分别由祝庆英和黄源深翻译的英国小说《简·爱》的两个中文译本中的对话。研究发现 ,译文对话并不总能够像原文对话一样刻画人物。
The fictional dialogue is not an ornament. It has many functions and attributes, one of which is to portray the character. From the perspective of semiotic principles of translation, this study compares the dialogues in the two Chinese translations of Jane Eyre, which are respectively done by Zhu Qingying and Huang Yuanshen. It finds out that the target dialogues do not always portray the characters as the source dialogues do and analyses the causes and consequences of the unsuccessful translations in both versions.
