长篇小说《高老庄》实则是一个寓言。高老庄的男人们个个矮小丑陋、讳疾忌医,是外在的封闭环境和内在的传统文化造成了其人种的退化。这种传统的农耕文化劣根性,不妨称之为"侏儒文化"。在市场经济体制下,"侏儒文化"与外来文明发生了尖锐的冲突并日显颓势。如何正视和改造这种文化,重铸新的健全的民族灵魂,已是当下要务。

The full-length novel 'Old Gao village' is in fact a fable. The men in the village are all short and urgly, hiding their sickness for fear of treatment. It is the result of race degeneration under the external closed environment and the internal traditional culture. We can call this deep-rooted bad habits of farming culture as'Dwarf Culture'.Under the market economic system ,the 'Dwarf Culture'meets the outside civilization and sharp conflict appears. The first one is becoming more and more dejected. It is now a task of top priority to acknowledge and transform this culture, reconstructing the sound racial spirit .
