人是一个矛盾的存在,性作为人的一种本能,亦充满了矛盾。别尔加耶夫以其个性理论为基石,以悖论的方式表达出在性之中存在的诸多理论困境与现实困境,即性本体悖论、性知识悖论、性行为悖论及性能量悖论。别尔嘉耶夫认为,通过纯粹否定的禁欲主义生活并不能战胜性欲,并不能解决性之悖论困境,只要通过爱情的超越,通过个性与个性结合中的自由创造,使性的欲望改变为精神的体验,才能真正使性从客体化世界的迷恋中超脱、升华,使人成为一个完满的个性,从而超越性之悖。
