This paper is a response to the invitation for comments on “Professional Ethics of Chinese Librarians (Preliminary Draft)” issued by Chinese Society for Library Science. It discusses three ethical issues with special significance for librarianship: the relationship between justice and efficiency, professional devotion, and sustainable development.
