Studies on L2 speaking in China: A review

本文评述了我国12年来的英语口语研究，首先分析、归类了国内重要外语刊物上发表的24篇英语口语研究的文章，涉及口语理论、口语实证、口语测试和口语教学等方面。并在此基础上总结了这些研究的发现，最后指出我国在该领域中存在的不足和未来研究的取向。

The paper reviews important studies on L2 speaking conducted by scholars on the China's Mainland over the past 12 years. Altogether 24 papers published in major Chinese EFL journals have been classified and analyzed. The review shows that the focus of L2 speaking research in China is fourfold: 1) theory of L2 speaking; 2) empirical studies on L2 speaking; 3) L2 speaking testing, and 4) L2 speaking instruction. Based on the summary of research findings, the issues and directions for future L2 speaking research are identified.
