明末中国学者王徵与传教士邓玉函编译了《远西奇器图说录最》。这部介绍西方机械的专著传入了西方的杠杆力学知识,包括杠杆原理、杠杆平衡计算问题以及杠杆原理在分析简单机械上的应用等。《奇器图说》的杠杆平衡计算问题与明末《算法统宗》的杆秤平衡算题在出题方式、问题种类、算法、复杂程度等方面有显著区别。

Chinese scholar Wang zheng and European missionary Johann Terrenz co - translated and co - edited Yuanxi Qiqi Tushuo Luzui 远西奇器图说录最(The Best Selection of Diagrams and Explanations of the Wonderful Machines of the Far West). This monograph, introducing western mechanics and machines, brings western knowledge about lever into China. It consists of the law of the lever, computational problems of lever equilibrium, the application of the law of the lever to analyzing simple machines and so on. The computational problems of lever equilibrium in Qiqi Tushuo are quite different in the way of presenting problem, types of problems, the algorithm and degree of difficulty of problems from those of steelyard equilibrium in Suanfa Tongzong.
