This paper analysed the characteristics of irrigation reservoir operation for promoting ben- efits and put forward a suggestion for making the operation programm of an irrigation reservoir based on the drought dogree of a year. The operation of an irrigation reservoir after adding the comprehensive water supply task and the testing principle of reservoir operation are also discussed in the paper.
