本文讨论了五种类型的液晶显示和控制大规模CMOS集成电路:自带4位CPU的段式液晶显示驱动LSI;点阵位图式液晶显示驱动LSI;点阵字符式液晶显示驱动LSI;点阵图形式液晶显示驱动LSI;
Matching the rapid development of LCD, various special controller and driver LSI have been produced and facilitated driving LCD devices. Current products are generally de-vided into following five categories and can be directed by CPU to meet various needs users.1. Driver LSI with 4 bit CUPThe UPD7530 by NEC and KS56C1620 by SAMSUNG are typical samples of this kind, and as their merits, the LCD driver and 4 bit CPU can be integrated into one piece of ASIC, which is very convenient to users who develop display panels for intellectual instruments.2. Matrix LCD controller and driverLSI of this kind, such as SD1520 by EPSON. HD61102 by HITACHI and T7932 by TOSHIBA, can be operated through controlling every single pixel to provide clot matrix display.3. Character LCD controller and driverRepresented by SED1278 by EPSON, HD447SO by HITACHI and T7934 by TOSHIBA, this kind of LSI installed with CGROM can offer 128 stadnard ASC II characters and be usually used to drive dot matrix LCD models.4. Graph LCD controller and driverTypical samples of this kind are SED1330 by EPSON, HD61830 by HITACHI and T6963C by TOSHIBA and be used to display graphes including characters.5. LSI for video displayLSI of this kind represented by SED1345 by EPSON and HD66S41 by HITACHI can convert video signals and driving segnals into each other.Detailed analysis about the characterises. principle blocks and circuit blocks have been presented in this paper, taking EPSON serious products ad samples. The discussionsabout editing and program blocks of 240×64 matrix models have also been given based on auther’s research experimences in this field.
