试析深圳的英语弊病及翻译谬误

A Critical Analysis of the English Level and Translation Errors in Shenzhen, Guangdong

深圳是中国人均收入最高的城市 ,劳动人口中高层次的博士、硕士及学士人数比例也为全国最高。然而 ,深圳的英文垃圾却俯拾皆是 ,翻译谬误无处不在。笔者用大量的活生生的“荒谬”实例 ,揭示了这座缺乏文化根基的城市的种种英语弊病和翻译谬误 ,分析了产生这些弊病和谬误的原因 ,提出了医治弊病、减少谬误。

Shenzhen is a modern city with the highest per capita income in China. Its manpower also has the highest average education level in the country. However, the city is to a much greater extent polluted with bad English and translation errors than any other China's major cities. The paper reveals this shocking fact with numerous examples extracted from the city's newspapers, magazines, advertisements, sign boards for public transportation, government websites, product specifications, etc. The author has given a detailed analysis of the causes of such pollution from both the macro and micro perspectives, and offered some policy recommendations for curing or lessening the city's language pollution.
