A Brief Account of the 40 Years' Studies of the Cliff Pictures along the Zuojiang River Basin by Internal Scholars

关于广西左江流域崖壁画的年代问题 ,应定为“上到战国 ,下到东汉”。关于族属问题 ,应定为壮族先民骆越 ,至于内容 ,则表现的是宗教祭祀活动 ,反映古代壮族先民祭祀水神的场面 ,是先民祈求风调雨顺 。

The cliff pictures along the Zuojiang River Basin in Guangxi should be considered in the times dating back to the years between the warring states (457-221 B.C.) and the Eastern Han Dynasty (22-220).It was the Luogue people,the ancients of the Zhuang nationality that drew the cliff pictures.The pictures are concerned with the religious ceremonies in which the clansmen of the Zhuang nationality offerred sacrifices to gods or ancestors and prayed for favourable weather.They display the grand rites of offering sacrifices to the God of water and repressing the water demons.
