When optimizing generation resources to satisfy load demand, each generator may have one status: on or off. So the power a generator can offer is not consecutive. When we optimize the generation resources without considering it, sometimes, the generators, which ought to be shut down may still be running. This paper gives a method to judge if some of the generators should be stopped in single-period in electricity power market with a method using punitive functions. At last, a simple example is presented to illustrate the presented method.
