A Cultural Critique of the Reading Politics in Interpreting C-A Literature

美国华裔文学,由于其特殊文化地位以及复杂的文化渊源,既是国内学术界文学研究的热点,同时也是文学阅读和接受中的盲点之一。本文结合当代后殖民及文化研究理论,试图从探讨国内外学者阅读视角问题出发,重新考虑美国华裔文学的定位及其意义:美国华裔文学,作为一种杂体文化的文学形式,是华裔作家坚持自我身份认同、表征自我杂体文化以及抵抗中美两种文化压力的有效途径。

Chinese-American literature, because of its privileged position between Chinese and American culture along with the complexity in its cultural lineage and cultural representation,is one of the most heated topics in Chinese literary circle while at the same time is also one of the blind spots in the cultural reading and interpretation of its kind.So with the application of contemporary Post-colonial critiques and Cultural theories, this essay intends to re-examine the reading politics in interpreting Chinese-American literature and give a detached reconsideration of its cultural location and practical significance. It will be argued that Chinese-American Literature, as the particular literary entity of the hybrid culture, is the ideal way for those Chinese-American writers to assert their own cultural identifications, represent their own hybrid culture and resist the hegemony from both Chinese and American culture.
