教学研究型大学就是以教学为中心、以研究为动力的大学。教学研究型大学是推进中国高等教育大众化进程的中坚力量。衡量一所大学是否属于教学研究型大学的指标有硕士学位数/年、生师比、科研经费、本科生与研究生的比例、小班教学规模。教学研究型大学在办学理念上要做到求实、创新、灵活、有成效。

A teaching and research oriented university focuses on teaching and takes research as its motive force. It is the core force to promote the popularization of higher education in China. Whether a university falls into this category can be decided according to the following: the number of master's degrees per year, the ratio of students to teachers, research funds, the ratio of undergraduates to graduates and scale of small classes. And such a university should be practical, creative, flexible and efficient.
