Cultural elements and cultural influence in oral translation

语言是文化的载体。对于口译者来说,除了翻译语言表层的信息外,更要翻译语言深层次的文化涵义。因此,在翻译过程中,口译者的跨文化意识就显得尤为重要。文化因素的考虑与否决定着翻译的准确性及翻译质量,而跨文化意识的有无或程度强弱也成为衡量一名优秀的口译者的重要准绳。

It is a well-known fact that language is the carrier of culture. Cultural factors play a very important role in oral translation. It requires translators to do both the surface translation of the language itself and the deep translation of the meaning conveyed in that culture. It is particularly important for oral translators to be aware of the cultures of the languages that they are translating. Cultural factors determine the appropriateness and quality of the translation, therefore, cross-cultural awareness is one of the norms to evaluate an oral translator.
