193 2年“一二八”事变中 ,商务印书馆总馆厂毁于日机轰炸。 1 93 7-1 945年 ,商务在抗战后方的基本设施几乎损失殆尽 ,留守上海的机构遭到无所不至的摧残。已有的论著较多从商务人“复兴”事业的角度阐述这段商务史 ,以弘扬“商务精神”。本文侧重于论述商务遭受的劫难和后果。

The Commercial Press was destroyed by the Japanese bombers during the January 28th Incident of 1932. And during those years from 1937 to 1945, it almost lost all its fundamental facilities in the back rear of anti-Japanese war, and the institution was severely demolished in Shanghai. This paper is designed to discuss the disasters and their aftereffects that the Commercial Press has suffered.
