摘要
哈代强调的复杂“印象”和多角度的美学意识在《苔丝》自然观中得到了完美体现,这表现在三个方面:“自然”作为小说的基本思想之一,“自然”作为事件的具有象征意义的背景材料及“自然”作为研究人与自然关系的文本资料。在每个方面的分析中,哈代都表现出了某种程度的矛盾与复杂性。哈代的不协调的美学观点要求我们以多种矛盾的印象来把握自然,并进而迷恋其可能产生的多种意义。这也是哈代反传统的现代主义写作风格的真实写照。
Hardy's aesthetic of emphasizing complicated'impression' and multiple perspectives has been perfectly reflected in his view of Nature in ' Tess of the D'Urbervilles'. This can be discerned in three aspects: Nature as a fundamental idea of the novel; Nature as the symbolic settings of the events; and Nature as a context to study the relationship between man and nature. Hardy has shown a degree of ambivalence and complexity in the analyses of every aspect. Hardy's aesthetic of incongruity demands us to grasp nature through multiple contradictory impressions and go on to be fasinated by the various meanings it may arouse. This is also a truthful portrait of Hardy's modernist writing which goes against our tradition.
