Examinations have been made on 41 earrings and finger rings out of the 57 bronzes from the tombs of the Lower Xiajadian culture at Dadianzi, Aohanqi, Chifeng, Inner Mongolia. 11 were made into polished section for microscopic testing while the rest just polished at surface for SEM analysis. Casting and heat forge techniques were employed. Examination shows that the ancient workers could control the tin content. Copper and tin seems to have been produced separately. Several copper mines have been found nearby and shown traces of exploitation. However, no tin source has ever been found around. Those bronzes with a tin content at 10% and iron ores containing tungsten unearthed in the same cemetery seem to be from the northern bank of the Xilamulun River, an area abundant with tin vines.
