传统的街巷空间(包括巷道和水巷)是苏州古城城市空间的精华所在,也是古城风貌的重要组成部分。在街坊改造过程中,运用城市设计手法对街巷的空间结构、界面、节点以及空间尺度等方面加以控制和设计,不仅可以实现对古城肌理的延续,也可以对社会网络和生活网络的缝合起到积极的作用,达到保护古城风貌的目的。
