董欣宾逝世噩耗传来，我正在三门峡至兰州的出差途中，无法去上海向他的遗体告别，我恍恍惚惚，头脑失控，忘记了自己是在外地，仿佛乎南京，仿佛乎上海，当年的一幕幕往事浮现于眼前，我拨通了上海的电话，嘱郑奇代为书写我献上的挽联：
Chinese famous master and critic of painting and calligraphy, Mr. Dong Xinbin went out of this world. He devoted the whole lifeto the inheriting and exploiting of Chinese painting. He has made great achievements in regard of the painting theory with widelyknowledge. His passing away is great loss to Chinese painting enterprise. As his friend for dozens of years, the author recollectedtheir passing connections.
