中国古人常以“沉鱼落雁”、“闭月羞花”来形容女性之美。有关女性的题材，中国历代均有大量以女性为题材的绘画作品和工艺美术品留存于世。尤其是在中国的仕女画一域，很多画家皆以此而闻名。
The beauty painting is an important object in the field of Chinese figure painting, which style turned to be mature in the Han and WeiDynasties. As to the Tang Dynasty, Zhang Xuan and Zhou Fang improved the painting skill of this field. The beauties under theirbrushes are of great charm with exquisite texture, reflecting the social fashion of that time.
