Drawing is the basic training in arts, but it’s close to the sketch in the training of Chinese painting, which pays more atten- tion to the spirit of the subjects in an image. In sketch of Chinese painting, we must give up what we know from west- ern drawing, such as light and shadow, and use a flat light source to observe structures of our subjects to show its spirit.
