This paper discusses following problems in design of the environment for developing Intelligent Computer Assisted Instruction (ICAI) systems: knowledge representation structure, teaching patterns and strat■gies, program teaching models, course content analysis and interior course generation, and■rrors' diagnosis. These design thoughts support various ICAI systems with all kinds of teaching patterns and teaching strategi■s, and descriptions and utilization of all kinds of knowledge.
