In the United States, it is not customary telephone someone early on the morning. If you telephone him early in the day, while he was shaving or having the breakfast, the time of the call shows that the matter is very importance and requires immediately attention. The same meaning is attached to telephone calls making after 11p.m. If someone accepts a call during sleeping hours, he consider it is a matter of life or death. The time chosen for the call communicates its importance.
