Determination of Germanium in Chinese Medicine Herbs by Gas Chromatography (GC)through its Hydride

近年来,锗对人体的影响众说纷纭,对中药中所含的锗特别关注。锗是生物体内非必要元素,但学者认为锗可能参与免疫调节反应。人参、当归、枸杞等中药植物之所以有强身、滋补、抗癌等作用,是因为它们含有一定量的锗。

This paper describes the determination of germanium in Chinese medicine herbs by GC through its hydride. The germanium in the herbs was transferred to germanium hydride which was collected with & cryogenic trap. Then, the germanium hydride was separated by GC with a GDX-104 column and detected by using a flame photometric detector. This method is rapid .simple .sensitive and highly selective. The detection limit for Ge was 3. 6 ×10-11 g. Several varieties of herb such as Ginseng radix .Coicis Semen , Lycium Chinese (fruit) and Danggui have been analysed.
