On Chen Fan

陈范在苏报案中是一个重要角色,他因此一度成名,也因此家破人亡。陈范原本无革命思想,因误信"假孙中山"被卷进苏报案。苏报案后,陈范也依然比较低调,民国成立后也不以功臣自居,生活依旧困顿潦倒。本文试图展示近代上海一个末路文人的悲剧人生。

Chen Fan was a key person in Supao case, which made him famous for some time, but this also brought him and his family terrible fate. He was not an revolutionist, but was cheated by a blackguard who pretended to be Sun Yeh - san, and was involved in Supao case. After that, he lived in silence. Even after the founding of the Republic of China,he did not take himself as a revolutionary maker,and lived still in poverty. This thesis tries to depict the tragedy of an intellectual in modern Shanghai.
