This article introduces a method to measure the mid diameter on the base level of a taper thread's plug guage. The mid diameter d_2 on a section with a certain distance from the base level can be measured with a pointer and a universal telemeter. The distance between the section and the base level can be observed with a multipurpose instrument microscope. Then the mid diameter of the base level d_g can be calculated.
