摘要
Based upon a comprehensive research on shell mounds of the Jiaodong Peninsula, the present paper studies the results of pollen analyses of the Wongjiabu site on the south coast of the Peninsula and the Geduiding and Dazhongiia sites on the north coast. The authors reconstruct the paleoclimate and paleovegetation of the area from the period of Qiujiazhuang I culture to the time of Zijingshan I culture. Taking into account achievements in field geological and geomorphological exploration, they discuss the influence of changes of natural environments upon the spatial limits of man's living activities, the mode of their production and the vanishing course of shell mounds. They also deal with the problem whether there existed gathering at that time.
