Described in the paper are the major aspects concerning Russian steel tube industry, covering the general situation of the year of 2003, the demands for different product types over the recent years, import and ex-port as well a s the production, sales and technical upgrade with respect to the key manufactur ers. Also discussed are the development prospect and characteristics of Russian steel tube industry, and the opportunities and chal-lenges brought about by the exploitation of oil and natural gas resources and the construction of oil/gas p ipe lines in the country.
