儒学官德与政治文明

Confucian virtues of government officials and political civilization

中国历代的儒家学者注重道德操守、人格修养,评价官吏注重官德政绩、勤政廉洁。要求做官为吏者必须严守官吏道德,清正爱民,勤政为民,廉而不贪。因为只有践行官德的人为官,才能有政绩。儒学的官德论,是儒家政治伦理的核心,亦是其正心、修身、齐家、治国、平天下思想的体现。在当前研究儒学官德对政治文明建设具有重要的警示意义。

Confucian scholars of all dynasties of China attach great importance to morality, personal integrity and accomplishment of character. In appraising government officials, great attention is given totheir virtues as officials, achievements in their official career, diligence and honesty in performing their duties. Government officials are required to be strictly virtuous, stainless, honest and uncor-rupted, with the people in their mind all the time. For only when officials are virtuous, can they do well in performing their duties and contribute to the people. The theory about the virtues of officials is the core of Confucianism, which embodies the Confucian ideas about what a man should be. Currently, studies of the Confucian virtues of officials may heighten our vigilance in the building of political civilization.
