Collocation and Restrictions on Its Selection

搭配关系指一个单位和同一序列中的其他单位之间的关系,或者说是在现场的所有成分之间的关系。在语言使用中,词与词之间的搭配使用,要受到语法规则、词汇的语义特征和文化因素三个方面的限制。同一客观存在在汉英两种语言中出现了不同的表达方式,这是因为语言搭配形式一方面受到语言内部规律的制约,同时也受到文化因素的影响,包括思维方式、价值观念和心理模式等。因此,学习一种语言,在掌握语言内部规律的同时,也要重视培养跨文化交际的能力。

There are some similarities and a lot more disparities in collocation between Chinese and English languages, because collocation is not only governed by intralinguistic regularities such as grammatical and semantic rules, but also restricted by such cultural factors as the ways of thinking, psychological patterns, values, etc. Therefore, in addition to the mastery of grammar and vocabulary, it is necessary for the second language learners to know more about the culture of the target language in order to be competent at cross-cultural communication.
