A new version of Oeko-Tex Standard 100 in 2003 was taking effect on Jan. 1, 2004. The authoritiveness of the standard and the significance to the consumers' health and safety were reviewed. The basic contents of the standard and limit range of the substances to be tested were introduced, and the new edition was compared with the old one. The importance and the necessary and active countermeasures to the 'Green Barrier' were also outlined.
