对于社会发展的评价尺度,旧的发展观主要有“物”的尺度和“人”的尺度两种基本观点。他们虽然在社会发展中起过积极作用,但根本上是片面的、消极的,若以其引导、规约社会发展的价值导向,势必造成社会发展的危机。马克思主义的社会发展观是综合的文明发展观。因此,衡量社会发展或进步也应该以社会“综合的文明”为尺度。所谓综合的文明是指物质文明、政治文明和精神文明的协调发展,而不是夸大某一方面,而忽视其他方面。

Two measures of social development were used in the past: one material and one human.But for all their positive effects on social development, both are one-sided and harmful and may eventually cause a crisis in social development if they are used to direct and regulate social development.Therefore the measure of social development has to be multi-dimensional.Marxist view of social development is a comprehensive multi-dimensional view of civilization, which refers to the well-orchestrated development of material civilization, political civilization, and moral development.
