In the eyes of ecologists, Big Two-Hearted River is an account of Nick's pilgrimage toward nature. Nick meets resonance and finds his lost paradise in nature. Therefore, nature assumes as his best shelter for recovery. All his deeds are based on his respect to nature. Actually, Nick's conception of consumption is a kind of organic consumption built on respect to nature, which allays the destruction of human-centrism toward nature.
