应用力学在二十世纪初期,大放异彩,大获成功。力学在解决现代工程问题的过程中,创造性地发展了一套行之有效的应用力学方法。本文对应用力学在中国的传播与发展、有关应用力学的论述、应用力学方法的范例、应用力学方法的意义与特点、以及应用力学与数学力学、应用力学与有限元法之间的联系等方面作了介绍和讨论。阐明了应用力学方法必然产生的实际背景和理论根源。并指出深刻探究与理解应用力学的范例是学习与掌握应用力学方法的有效途径。

The development of applied mechanics in China was reviewed firstly. And then, the definition, paradigms, features and significance of the applied mechanics were depicted and discussed. The relation between applied mechanics and finite element method was also illuminated. Hereby, how to learn and master the applied mechanics was elucidated.
