When the residual oil is dispersed into water to form an oil-in-water (O/ W) type emulsion. The viscosity of the emulsified oil is thus significantly reduced to an ex- tent that the residual oil can be easily transferred and sprayed to achieve a relatively complete combustion and high heat efficiency. The emulsified residual oil can also be used in metal casting and grinding wheel production with increased efficiency as compared with the regular residual oil. Through a detailed study of the factors influencing the stability of the emulsified residual oil,it is discovered that application of composite emulsifying agent and proper emul- sifying technology can significantly improve the stability of emulsified residual oil.
