A modified technology-rice straw surface dressing in paddy fields

In recent years, farmers of Zhejiang Province have adopted a surface dressing of rice straw spread over the surface of the soils in rice fields instead of the traditional method of rice incorporation. Usually, the early crop of rice is harvested without drainage, so that the soil surface remains wet and chemical N fertilizer is applied by puddling it with the surface soil.
