Comparative Units in DTS and Their Characteristics

西方描写译学始于比较,而任何比较都需要建立对应的比较单位。本文试图探讨西方描写译学在这一点上的相关论述,并在此基础上参照翻译单位及其与比较单位的异同,试图指出描写译学在比较单位理论上的一些缺陷,进而讨论建立比较单位的可行性。结论认为,可以以一种动态的方式把握描写译学中的比较单位,而且描写研究的目的也会对比较单位的建立产生影响。

Western Descriptive Translation Studies (DTS) proceed with comparison, and any comparison requires the construction of corresponding units for comparison. This paper makes an attempt to enquire into relevant discussions in western DTS. Then, by referring to translation units and to the similarities and differences between translation units and comparative units, the paper attempts to point out some shortcomings in DTS in the theory of comparative units before it explores the possibility of the construction of comparative units. A conclusion is reached that comparative units in DTS can be understood in a dynamic way and that the purpose of descriptive studies can also exert great influence on the final construction of comparative units.
