Based on describing the characteristics of Xtensible Markup Language (XML), this paper puts forward an open architecture for the data share of traffic information, which uses a three-tiered structure in conjunction with the XML in order to allow traffic data to be further data mined, data shared and used by any number of third party applications. This paper also explains the basic principle of the open architecture, the function of each tier and the implementation of XML between each tier.
