On the Types of Iconicity in Language

语言是重要的认知工具,是一个多层次,有着丰富潜势的象似性符号系统。语言中象似性可以分为影象象似性、拟象象拟性和喻象象似性等多种类型。

That language should be seen as a multi-layered semiotic system of iconicity there is currently not much doubt, yet conflicting opinions persist over the classification of different types of iconicity. On the basis of a careful examination of the classificatory schemes now in circulation, the author proposes and justifies a tripartite division of the subject into imagic, diagrammatic and metaphoric iconicity.
