The Classification of the Traditional Natural Villages in Central Plain in China

中原传统的自然村落多如繁星，形成原因错综复杂，具有悠久的历史和丰厚的文化。我们透过其表，依据其集结和构成，将之规定为比较稳定的村落和不稳定村落两种形态。基于这样的分析，可以把传统的中原自然村落粗略地划分为单姓氏村落、多姓氏村落(亲族联合体村落、杂姓氏村落)、少数民族村落三种。

the traditional natural villages in central plain are numerous, and the causes of their formation are intricate and complex, involving time - honored histories and rich cultures. Through their face value, and according the concentration and constitution, we can define them as two patterns : relatively stable villages and unstable villages. On this basis, we can roughly divide the traditional central plain villages in three kinds : villages bearing one same family name, villages bearing multiple family names (relation association villages and villages bearing miscellaneous family names), and villages of minor ethnic groups.
