The Leitmotiv is an important method to express the plot in Wagner's music drama The Nibelung's Ring (Der Ring des Nibelungen). The article organized some main motives of the drama, expatiated their source, shape features, expressive meaning and relation among each others, and moreover, classified them from four aspects: portraying scenery, describing object, personifying and narrating. The writer made a simple list of the Ring motives to help audience to get general idea of the opera's Leitmotiv.
