The paper discussed the causes,groups of plant male sterility and controlling by domi- nant gene and recessive gene.It emphasised a molecular level analysis of male sterile role in mitochondria, chloroplast,plasmid,and an introduction of the temperture and photoperiod sensitive male sterility was giv- en.All of these showed a bright future of male sterile induction and application of sterile material in breeding. In the meantime,it indicated problems in mate sterile research.
