Progressing with times is the essential theoretical characteristic of Marxist philosophy. Its fundamental implication is to comprehensively understand China and the world, to comprehend the history of social development, to study the contradiction of contemporary social development and realistic issues and to truly grasp the spirit of the times, and thus to reveal the law of the development of society and help to bring about the transformation of society. Therefore, philosophy and social science is innately critical. The essence of Marxist philosophy lies in its revolutionary critical nature. Marxist philosophy thus has the courage to seek truth from facts and to reveal realistic contradictions and problems. It provides us with practical approaches to solve the contradictions and problems. Only persisting in liberating thoughts, seeking truth from facts and progressing with the times can philosophy and social science in China be flourishing and growing with vigor.
