Naming and Translation of Terminology: A Historical Perspective

本文试图在以现代语言学基本原理为主导的翻译研究的框架内,对“定名”的历史沿革加以描述和释读并讨论“定名”与名词术语翻译的关系及存在的问题和解决方法。

This paper attempts to account for the various views which translators have had over the past two millennia in regard to naming of things and translating of SL terms into TL equivalents within a framework of translation studies approached from modem linguistic perspectives. It discusses various problems that crop up in the process of translating, and solutions thereto.
