在当今中国画坛，范曾是饱受议论的人物之一。他桀傲不驯的性格和由此而洋溢出的慷慨之气，他口无遮拦对恶俗之事的尖刻批评，他走游于社会各阶层的诡异而绝妙的步伐，以及他独立特行的画风和市场价格，都是人们关注的焦点一一或横招非议，或谀词如潮。可以说，在范曾身上，集中了一个艺术家所能同时拥有的不同角色：画家、散文家、诗人、学者、社会活动家等，因而，他也由此同时拥有了这个时代所给予各种的议论。在相当长一段时期内，范曾是乐于享受这种殊荣的。在他看来，这是一种难得的艺术和思想的滋养剂。

Fan Zeng has been of great criticism in Chinese painting field. His obstinate and unruly character, his severe critics tovicious things, his bizarre attitude to each grade of the society and his special painting style of marketing price, all becomesthe focus of people. He turned many identities together,such as painter, poet, scholar and activists of the society. Thereforehe hold different contentment for that era to him.
