The Scientific Experimentation on Promoting China's Rural Areas in the 1930s.

五四新文化运动后，科学主义、科技兴国的思想在中国渐为流传，但如何付诸实践，这是一个尚待探索的问题。 ２０世纪二三十年代，晏阳初先生在定县进行的平民教育运动体现了他利用科学技术改造中国农村的志向、总体构想和实践，真正体现了“五四”之后中国知识分子开始把国外先进的科学技术应用于农村的开拓精神。我们选择了猪种改良这个角度，考察平教会是如何踏踏实实地进行科技下乡、改造农村落后面貌的。我们认为，晏阳初的这一思想和实践具有重要的历史价值。

During the May Fourth New Culture Movement scientism and the idea of building China by science and technology became popular. But how to put those thoughts into practice remained an unsolved problem. In the 1920s-30s,Mr Yan Yang chu undertook a Common people education campaign in the countryside of Ding County. This program demonstrated his object .plan and practice of transforming rural China with science and technology,and reflected post-'May. Fourth' Chinese intellectuals' pioneering spirits in using foreign advanced science and technology remaking China's rural areas. Thus, Yan Yang chu's idea and practice is of important historical significance.
