Causes for the Rise of Family Opera Troupe in the Late Ming Dynasty

在晚明特定的历史条件下,文人阶层迫切要求私家伎乐充分发挥自娱、交际和自我实现等诸多功能,而昆剧的形成和发展又为这些功能的实现提供了最适宜的艺术形式。于是,家班成为上层文人娱乐消遣、展示才华、密切各种社会关系的工具,晚明家班兴盛的主要原因即在于此。

In the late Ming Dynasty the literati pressed the family opera troupe to play many roles such as entertainment, social communication, while Kunqu representing the best art form helped to realize this end. Family opera troupe then turned into the high social's instrument for amusement and revealed artistic brilliance. The paper assumes that this is the maior cause for the rise of the family opera troupe in the late Ming Dynasty.
