Metaphor,character and the humanity of Chinese

人类在创造语言的过程中,不断应用隐喻的认知手段丰富、完善语言,因此,隐喻赋予了语言的人文性,也就是说,人文性是语言的本质属性。汉字具有多重功能,既是记录语言的工具,更是汉民族特有的认知工具,同时也是汉民族文化的载体,汉字的特性使汉语比印欧语更具人文性。

In the creation of language, human beings enrich and improve languages with metaphor. As a result, metaphor, as a means of human cognition,has given languages their humanities.In this sense,we conclude that all languages have their humanities.Chinese character has several functions: It is not only the tool of recording language,but also the means of cognition of the Chinese and the media of Chinese culture.These characteristics result in that the humanity of Chinese is much more richful than the Indio-Europe languages.
